Man beaten to death as theft suspect

Yesterday morning, a suspected thief was killed in the capital's Sabujbagh region.

According to police, the 28-year old man could not pronounce his name Ridoy.

Anwar Hossain was the Sabujbagh Police Station's sub-inspector. He said that the incident occurred inside the boundary wall for a building being built for a club.

He said that he was caught by several people, including the caretaker and club manager.

He was left with severe injuries after they tied his legs and hands.

Police were informed and rushed to the scene. He later stated that he was in an unconscious state when he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Ridoy, who was being treated at the hospital, died shortly before 3:00 AM. His body was covered in torture marks.

According to the police officer, two men were detained by law enforcement officers in connection to the incident. The body was then sent to the DMCH morgue to undergo autopsy.
